2.                  Website:

Going on facebook was discussed. Mr. Jarstad asked what the ADD was Mr. Cooper was talking about in the minutes. Chairperson Edwards said he was referring to a defibulater. Port Manager Phalen said the port was supposed to have one on site. She was told that by tow people that stopped in to check out our building as a disaster center. They said a sign in the Fire Department quoted that. Chairperson Edwards was going to check it out. Port Manager Phalen also said most people do not know the Port of Dewatto built the Fire Station at Collins Lake as well as Dewatto. Chairperson Edwards was the only one that knew. Chairperson Edwards said that Collins Lake, back then, only had one fire truck and no money. It was Collins Lake District 15 at the time. The Port bought the property and built the station. Port Manager Phalen said the Port of Dewatto also bought them their first defibulator. Commissioner Stevens asked why that was not in our comprehensive plan. Chairperson Edwards said Dist. 15 annexed with Dist. 2 later. He also said the people that has moved into the District has no idea abut the active role the Port of Dewatto has taken in the area over the last 30 years.

Chairperson Edwards said before the Port built the station, they kept the truck in Tahuya Valley and when they had a fire they had to go down there and get the fire truck. He said after they got the station they saved enough money to purchase and ambulance. At the time the fireman took first aid classes to operate the ambulance, as well as help the people. Chairperson Edwards said any time they needed help the Port of Dewatto came through for them. Chairperson Edwards said we have a public building and we should have a ADD machine here.

Small Ports meeting, we had 2 from Allyn, 2 from Shelton, 1 from Grapeview, and 3 from Women’s Prison along with Mrs. Edwards, Mrs. Stevens and 2 boys as well as Pete Lambert arrived after a beautiful pot luck was served. It was a very nice meeting. All board members were in attendance. Chairperson Edwards said the other commissioners were impressed with out building and the facilities. He said some of the other Ports didn’t even have a building. Mrs. Edwards is a former commissioner and was a commissioner when the building was built.

Chairperson Edwards read a letter from Mr. Beau Bakken, Fire Chief, about the meeting Mr. Cooper attended. He said they took the information to the commissioners. He wanted to meet with the board to continue the discussion. Chairperson Edwards said he went on-line to find out about Government Grants. He said there is a lot of them out there, but you need a grant writer. Chairperson Edwards said he knew someone that writes grants and he was going to check on that. The Port also got a letter from the Port of Bremerton explaining what they are doing.
