Unfinished Business:
1. Campground:
Port Manager Chris Phalen said the campground looks great, all the campers commented on how nice it looked. The Lady Prisoners do a nice job and they do anything they are asked to do.
Port Manager Phalen reported the Petty cash has $1,577.31 in bank. Campground has $1,265.86 in bank and $406.00 to go to the bank. $4,262.00 was deposited in Shelton this month.
Port Manager Phalen wanted to thank her Grandkids, Gene and Lori Tucker for taking care of the park over Labor Day when she was in the hospital. Both of them have been with her collecting money so they knew what and how to do everything. Everyone told her what a nice job they did. Thanks kids.
2. Website:
Ken Jarstad, our web master, said the burn ban has been lifted and the web site is going the same. He also had a bill for website hosting.
3. Hydro seeding:
Chairperson McLean said last month we discussed putting in a sprinkler system on the new cleared area. We have on bid of $53,268.30. The Commissioners discussed having the women prisoners come up and pick up the rocks out on the cleared area. Port Manager Phalen said the Lady Prisoners would come up here and do anything we ask them to do. She added that she had already asked them about that and they will do it. We just need to set up a time. Commissioner Stevens was discussing a type of sprinkler the pressure would move the sprinklers? There was a lot of discussion on what we need to do for the area. We know if we put grass in there, it will have to be mowed and watered. Port Manager Phalen said Nichols is supposed to give us an answer about where and how we need to connect to the water system out there. Putting in another well out there might me cheaper? This is something we need to check out.
Commissioner Stevens said we have talked about storage units out there. Port Manager Phalen said we need to get a grant to do what ever we want to do out there.
Commissioner Stevens said we need to check with the county about putting in a well out there. Commissioner Stevens added that out building is already set up for a disaster center.
Port Manager Phalen said the county will not let us put the culvert there. They say it is too dangerous. Someone else suggested putting the culvert all the way up in the corner.
Commissioner Stevens said the Port would still like to get those 91/2 acres that DNR has down on bay. Commissioner Stevens told Virgle he could donate some property to the Port down there. Our comprehensive plan was discussed and Port Manager Phalen was asked to contact Joe O’Leary and get some more camp books.
Our next meeting will be October 7, 2008 at 6:30 p.m.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:28 p.m.
